Mercom India ↗What it means
Six thousand megawatt-hours behind 1,500 MW is a four-hour, long-duration block — storage sized to carry the evening peak rather than trim it, the distinction we set out in 2-hour vs 4-hour BESS explained. At this scale the auction is less a project than a price benchmark: ₹5.99/kWh is a blended energy tariff for delivered peak power, so it is not directly comparable with the capacity charges (₹ per MW per month) discovered in standalone battery tenders.
ACME Solar’s 300 MW is one fifth of the round, which tells you the capacity was spread across several developers rather than concentrated — a healthy sign for competitive tension in the assured-peak and FDRE framework that now anchors central procurement under India’s storage policy.
As of this briefing the round is awarded; power purchase agreements and project locations follow.
