What is Kalpa Power's 100 MWh BESS supply agreement?

Kalpa Power has secured a supply agreement to deliver 100 MWh of battery energy storage in India. Reported by ESS News on 22 July 2026, it is a contracted BESS supply deal — the headline states the energy capacity but not the power rating, so the discharge duration is not yet defined. It adds another data point to India's deepening storage supply chain.

A firm supply agreement rather than a tender — the 100 MWh energy capacity is set, but with no stated power rating the discharge duration is not yet defined.

What it means

Unlike the utility tenders that dominate the pipeline, this is a signed supply agreement — a contract already awarded rather than an open call. At 100 MWh it is a mid-sized deal, and because the headline gives energy (MWh) but not power (MW), the discharge duration cannot be inferred yet; a 100 MWh system could be anything from a fast, short-duration asset to a slower multi-hour one depending on its inverter rating. Deals like this sit downstream of the manufacturing build-out we track in the PLI ACC battery manufacturing guide and feed the same demand as India’s standalone-BESS solutions.

The agreement has been signed; the project now moves toward build. For the wider tender picture, see our tender tracker.
