A 750 MW solar-plus-wind-plus-battery PPA with NTPC — the firmed hybrid shape that now carries most of India's new renewable offtake.
pv magazine India ↗What it means
Three technologies under one 750 MW contract is the standard answer to a problem plain solar cannot solve: the offtaker wants power on a schedule, not whenever the resource shows up. Wind and solar generate at different times of day, and the battery closes whatever gap is left — which is why India’s central buyers increasingly contract hybrid and firmed renewable capacity rather than single-technology blocks.
The headline does not state the battery’s power or energy rating, so the discharge duration is unknown — and that one number is what separates an evening-peak system from genuine long-duration storage. NTPC as the counterparty puts this in the same family as its other NVVN and FDRE procurements.
As of this briefing the deal is signed but not built — construction and commissioning details will be updated here as they are published.
