A commissioned block, not an announcement — and the storage carries more megawatt-hours than the solar carries megawatts.
pv magazine India ↗What it means
The ratio is the story. 300 MWh of battery against 66.68 MW of solar is roughly four and a half megawatt-hours of storage for every megawatt of generation — far heavier than the token battery that used to be bolted onto Indian solar projects to satisfy a dispatch clause. A block sized that way is not smoothing the array’s output; it is moving a full day’s midday generation into the evening, which is the shape the firm and dispatchable renewable tender framework has been pushing developers toward.
The headline does not state the battery’s rated power, so the discharge duration stays open — the same gap we flag on most Indian storage reporting, and the reason our briefs omit a duration bar rather than infer one. What is not in doubt is the lifecycle stage: this capacity is installed, tested and dispatching. Rajasthan continues to concentrate this kind of build, for the reasons set out in our state storage policy note, and the same western-belt logic sits behind Serentica’s 1 GWh Bikaner project reaching its first phase last month.
