What is Solex Energy's 5 GWh BESS manufacturing plan?

Solex Energy plans to build 5 GWh of battery energy storage manufacturing capacity and 5.2 GW of solar cell capacity by financial year 2029, reported by pv magazine India on 22 September 2026. It is a stated plan rather than an operating plant, extending a solar module maker's business into storage.

What it means

Solar manufacturers adding storage lines is becoming the pattern in India. Many tenders now bundle solar with batteries, and state storage mandates are pushing the two together at project level. A plan with an FY29 target is a direction, not delivered capacity; many announced gigawatt-hours have yet to reach construction.

For the wider picture, see pack plants already running such as Pace Digitek’s 1,250 MWh line, and what localisation means for costs in our battery import dependence note.
